Located in the southern portion of York Region Ontario. The town was officially incorporated on June 18, 1872. Richmond Hill has been one of the fastest growing communities in Canada since 1990. Its population is 185,540 based on the 2011 census. The town is home to the world-renowned David Dunlap Observatory telescope, at one time the second largest telescope in the world, and still the largest in Canada. The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts is a state-of-the-art cultural facility attracting top tier performances and hosting local events year round.
